Concert. Spring 2009

Difference that comes with age...It has been quite the change watching Jasmyn with schooling and school activities this year. She is no longer doing cute little performances about fictional characters, but performances that have taken a lot of practice with more seriousness. Last nights spring concert was the shortest one that we have attended. They were not lacking anything, just the pieces that they performed took more practice time. They did an excellent job as well. The pieces played were very difficult yet they went at it and it sounded great! They also sang a song. This was the first time during a school choir song that I have heard the boys louder then the girls. I think we have a few girls who are shy about singing. I know Jasmyn is.Getting ready to play

Hannah had a great time as well.
Jasmyn...growing up more and more. Having a child this old should make me feel old...but nah. It doesn't. I feel old because I am old. My kids keep me young.

The wind, it blows...Yep. Nebraska.

This past week I haven't really done much of anything...Dr's orders. I have been having back spasms. The weather has been pretty nice. We did get up to 93* on top of the hill here Thursday. Jasmyn was home from school most of the week ill. She is now better and up and about. Dolan has been working long hours due to spring sprays...bugs like the warmth. Hannah also enjoys the warm weather. She just loves to be outside. She is also refusing diapers. She loves being the big girl and using the potty. All week we only had one accident...she was helping do the dishes and with the water running...well, you know. The only time she is in a diaper is when we are in a vehicle longer then 30 minutes. Even then she refuses to go in the diaper. So, yes, I think it is safe to say...we made it! Hannah is officially potty-trained. But then again, we will see how church goes. She can't tell anyone she has to go, so hopefully they will realize her trying to break down the door to the bathroom means she has to go. :) Here are some pictures from the past week.I just love this picture. The silhouette of the bird spreading the wings and the group of pelicans in the background. On a side note, i believe the pelicans have left. I haven't seen them in a couple of days.
More birds.

Hannah enjoying her tricycle and the great outdoors.

Chasing bubbles.
Jasmyn helping with the bubbles.

More great outdoors. This was this morning. Today has been quite cold. Hannah took her Dad's hat and will not give it back. This is her "CHEESE" smile.
Working together.
In the fencing pick-up. Hannah loves to blow on the glass and make it fog up.

Hannah. 'Nuff said.

Just a pair of ducks swimming.

A big day outside tuckers little girls out.
A pair of turkeys.
Dolan likes this picture.

A peaceful spot.

I really do enjoy Spring. The grass starts greening up, the flowers bloom, trees leaf out....

EASTER!

After the egg-hunts, the toys, candy, and excitement, all that remains is sleep.

Finger Painting...

Hannah tried finger painting for the first time and really liked it. She concentrated very hard on her work. She did not however like the mess.

An Egg-cellent Day...

Let me just start off with wishing you a wonderful Easter! Hannah participated in her first Easter egg hunt this year. She was unsure to start out but then quickly warmed up to it and actually collected quite a few eggs.
When we first arrived at the park here in Palisade Hannah was a little confused...we weren't going to play on the playground.
The excitement!

Collecting the eggs.

Hannah didn't want to give up her basket full of wonderful colored eggs...but when she found out that she had grabbed the winning egg, she gladly did so...only for a moment. She won a bunny!
Hannah holding her loot.

She enjoyed that Easter egg hunt so much we decided to take her to Wauneta so she could hunt for eggs there. We even got to see the Easter bunny! Hannah wasn't too sure of that Ole bunny but got close enough to take a piece of candy.

Entertaining herself and everyone close by while waiting for the egg hunt to begin. Silly girl!

Jasmyn was even willing to go. Don't let this photo fool you. She did have a good time.
Here is the proof of the fun she was having.

Here is Hannah hunting in Wauneta. I didn't take as many pictures...it was just a little hectic. The hunt was held inside at least...the weather is just a little cool today.

Pelicans! A whole bunch of pelicans!

And the best part! Right here in Palisade!

Eggs, Faces, and Driving...

We colored Easter eggs. Hannah really liked it! She loved to see the eggs come out different colors. At times she was so impatient she would double up on the eggs...putting two in one cup. Jasmyn has always enjoyed doing this kind of stuff so it was a treat for her too.

You can see her excitement and also the double egg in the green dye.

All the finished eggs, minus one. That one egg had a very hard life...and death. First it was thrown into the fire...maybe not fire but boiling water (close enough to fire), then little hands grabbed it and started poking it and rubbing it with a wax stick. Next those little hands let go of it and he fell and hit a hard surface (table). He ended up with a fractured shell. The little hands picked it back up and studied the fracture. They then pressed and squeezed till the egg popped open. The last thing this little egg saw was large rough hands putting it into a dark whole (Dolan's mouth). The end.

Hannah enjoying her eggs.

Hannah found the stickers that came with the egg dye. She had fun making faces on the eggs.

We then made it outside. She saw Izzy and had to go give him a hug.

This is Jasmyn super excited!!!! Can you guess why?

Yep. My husband is a very brave man!

He has been giving Jasmyn driving lessons.

This is her pulling back up into the farm grounds. She does really well. Just needs to work on a few things.

That is it for Smith Acres.

The love of all things music...

Please turn your volume on for this.

Hannah really enjoys music of all kinds. She especially enjoys making it. Dolan says next on the list is a drum set. Hope you enjoy Hannah's music and dancing. =)
